Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town posts ‘The Letter’ for Allan Gray

O&M Cape Town has produced its first television commercial for Allan Gray since winning the account in May 2014.

‘The Letter’ is set in Germany in 1989 and tells the story of a man who is finally reunited with the love of his life after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Brought-to-life by director Kim Geldenhuys, director of photography Jan Velicky, and music composer Dustin O’Halloran, the commercial was shot over four days in Riga, Latvia, with an all-German lead cast. Careful attention to factual period detail was taken, including the building of a replica of part of the wall.

Tseliso Rangaka, Executive Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town, said that, “‘The Letter’ commercial is the perfect story to deliver Allan Gray's long-term investment philosophy. It is about true commitment in the face of adversity, which is presented in a touching and masterful way.”

Luca Gallarelli, Managing Director of Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town said, "We’re very proud of this piece of work which powerfully highlights a fundamental truth about the value of commitment and patience”.

Henk Pieterse, Head of Marketing at Allan Gray, explained that the commercial is “the result of a long, careful and collaborative process with the agency and it stays absolutely true to our heritage and is a reflection of Allan Gray’s investment philosophy”.
