Samsung Electronics Recognised as Employer of Choice

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 20 October, 2016 – Samsung Electronics South Africa has been officially certified by the Top Employers Institute for the company’s exceptional employee conditions, having successfully attained the prestigious Top Employer 2017 Certification. The company proudly accepted their award during a glittering gala event held yesterday at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

The Top Employers endorsement recognises top employers through a stringent certification process evaluating internal HR policies and procedures and is awarded to companies that achieve the highest standards of excellence in employee conditions.

The annual international research, undertaken by the Top Employers Institute, acknowledges leading employers around the world. This prestigious certification is rewarded to organisations that provide outstanding work environments, nurture talent throughout all levels of its operation and strive to continuously improve occupational applications.

“We are delighted to have received this Certification yet again. Samsung takes great pride in the creativity and diversity of its talented people and strives to create an environment that provides the opportunity for growth. This is testament to our corporate philosophy that ‘a company is its people’,” Matthew Thackrah, Deputy Managing Director at Samsung SA.

The first step in the certification agenda is the HR Best Practices Survey, a comprehensive analysis of the company’s Human Resources environment. This research critically assesses HR management and employee conditions within the business. Following validation and an external audit, performance scores are rated against an international standard, with only those employers that achieve the required level qualifying for certification.

Samantha Crous, Regional Director: Africa for the Top Employers Institute, explains: “Optimal employee conditions ensure that people can develop themselves personally and professionally. Our comprehensive research concluded that Samsung Electronics SA provides an outstanding employment environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well thought out and truly aligned with the culture of their company.”

“Samsung is dedicated to the continuous development of its employee offerings and will on an ongoing basis reinforce its employee value proposition. Our core values are excellence, change, integrity and co-prosperity. With these pillars, we work hard to optimise our employment practices and further develop employees to become the leaders of tomorrow. Samsung is proud of its success and will endeavour to maintain its ranking as a Top Employer in South Africa,” Thackrah concludes.
