Minister Lindiwe Sisulu to address Top Empowerment Companies

Minister of Human Settlement, Lindiwe Sisulu will address South Africa’s most pioneering companies in the realm of transformation and empowerment. This comes after the 16th Annual Oliver Top Empowerment Awards announced that they will be commemorating 100 years since the birth of the revered Oliver Reginald Tambo - namesake for the awards -

and celebrating “the spirit of Sophiatown” - a golden era when the names of the Legends of Empowerment - Tambo, Sisulu and many others - gained global renown. To further honour Oliver Tambo’s 100th birthday, Dr Mathews Phosa will deliver a speech on lessons we can learn from Oliver Tambo.

The Oliver Top Empowerment Awards has never been more relevant than it is today, against the backdrop of government’s recent call for accelerated economic transformation. Companies at the forefront of transformation, including awards partners Nedbank, Arms Audit and Public Sector Manager are stimulating more intensive participation from other companies economy-wide, to be more aware of the very latest developments in transformation and to embrace the opportunity of delivering lasting positive change for South Africa and all of its people.

As the leader at the helm of of top empowered business of the year award sponsor Nedbank, CEO Mike Brown recently highlighted Nedbank’s view that employment creation is one of the most important cornerstones on which transformation can, and must, be built, and emphasised that to drive down the nation’s unemployment figures, everything possible needs to be done to increase the number and growth of businesses, particularly SMMEs.

Becoming a Top Empowerment Awards finalist is an achievement in itself, as the entries are judged by a community of influential judges such as Maushami Chetty, Edna Sathekga, Barlow Manilal and more, making all finalists and winners at the Oliver Top Empowerment Awards true transformation drivers of distinction.
This annual ceremony gives South Africa the opportunity to recognise outstanding individuals and organisations demonstrating vision, leadership and action for empowerment and transformation. The achievements of the awards’ many past winners continue to motivate progress in South Africa, as this year’s organisers, partners and delegates prepare to applaud those at the forefront of transformation today.
